The official flag of Croatia and a short introduction to Croatia
Croatia, a country with a thousand year old history, first appeared on the political map of Europe in 1992. Before 1992, it was part of Yougoslavia. It covers 56.538 sq km, its coastline if 5.789 km long, including the more than thousand islands. In 1991, the population was 4.8 million. Zagreb, the capital of Croatia celebrated its 900th anniversary.

Map of Istria and the two isles Cres and Krk
As you can see, Croatia (and more precisely Istria) is not so far away from Italy. You can drive in one day to Istria from Munich, Salzburg, Vienna, Venice and even Milan!

Vrsar - small town near Porec
Beautiful port-town about 8 km under Porec. Has great accomodation, incuding camp-sites, hotels, and private rooms (in citizens houses).

Pula - Ancient Roman city
The biggest city on the Istrian peninsula, a large port, a Roman amphitheatre, a historic museum, ... What more do you need to have a good vacation?

Rabac - a tourist-like place!
As you see on the picture most the habitants in Rabac during the summer months are tourist, but you can't blame them. At the bottom of the picture you can clearly see the "beach".

Cres - The city!
The capital of the isle Cres, I can tell you one thing... They serve the best ice-cream here :-)

Valun - City of the ten commandments
Little town laying in a bay - always nice weather - and in most parts of the city are simply not possible to access by car! Be sure to visit the church, with a inscriptions of the ten commandments.

Lubenice - One of the most beauiful places I ever visited!
One of the marvellous views on the isle, don't miss it if you visit Croatia!

Osor - City between 2 isles
The connection between the isles Cres and Losinj. Remark the draw-bridge an the bottom of the picture. And, if you want to pass the bridge by boat, be warned it only opens twice a day ;-)

Vela Losinj - The old!
The old capital of Losinj, also a place NOT to miss when visiting Croatia! And also a place to make a walk along the coastline.

Mali Losinj - The new!
Large, new city, the present capital of Losinj. Famous for its restaurants near the port.

Pictures are taken from different catalogs about Croatia and also made by myself during my visit last summer.
