Founded in 1995, Virtual Soft Productions is a Belgian
software company who writes ProBoard PEXes and 16-bit MS-DOS executables. In less than 2
years the company developed more than 35 programs and over 15 are released to the public.
And they are all written by one single person. More than 250.000 lines of code in total.
In 1996, Virtual Soft Productions released its flagship
product, called MsgQuoter (also know as MessageQuoter). This program is so unique, it
hasn't been cloned yet. MsgQuoter adds a user-defined signature to the message a
user just wrote and asks if the user would like to add a cookie to his message.
In spring of 1997, Poker was released. It was the first
Poker PEX for ProBoard. Later that year, also Jackpot was released - the one-armed jackpot
for ProBoard with stunning graphics. And, also Digits was released - a memory game, both
for ProBoard and MS-DOS.
Right before the summer of 1997, Virtual Soft Productions
released its second MS-DOS program, called Visual Sort. It's an educational program to see
how 4 different sorting routines really work. This program was made after an example seen
on an Apple Power Macintosh to show its calculating power.
1997 was also the year of a co-operation between APA (from
Gilles Hemberg) and Virtual Soft Productions. APA developed a product called Dela, an
enhanced FILES.BBS lister (and more!). Virtual Soft Productions wrote DFEP, the Dela
Front-End for ProBoard. DFEP lets the user choose which areas his wants a list of and then
creates the list.
1998 was a calm year for Virtual Soft Productions. Certain
speculations about ProBoard 3.0 lowered my interest in programming PEXes. Two products are
almost ready to be released. LastCallers, a not-so-traditional Last Caller PEX and Sysop
Utilities - the Swiss army knife for ProBoard sysops. |
